Nadia Comaneci - (born on 12th November 1961 Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej / Now Onesti, Romania), Romanian gymnast. First gymnast in history to achieve a score of 10 in competing in the Olympics. Bela Karrolyi who was the Romanian gymnastics trainer who would become Comaneci's coach later in life she discovered her when she was six. Her first competition was in the national junior championships which she was 13th place in 1969. In 1970, she was crowned champion. In her first international competition in 1972, a pre-Olympic junior event for countries of the communist bloc she was awarded three gold medals and in 1973 and 1974 she became an the all-around junior champion. In her very first competition in senior level, Lyudmila Turkishcheva from Russia took home five gold medals aswell as one silver.
